Library Camp 2024

We will present a variety of popular book titles and recommendations for libraries serving teens.

Make it fun, make it interactive! Teach your students how to navigate the process of book selection through speed dating and book tastings. Get them excited by delivering dynamic book talks. Participants will leave the session with materials to enhance their library programs, discover new titles and learn ways to breathe new life into old favorites.

Quilting has told the story of our people for centuries. While the style of quilting has changed over the years, what has not changed is the precise need for measuring, a sense of design, and the creative process. Librarians will be in the role of the students, gathering information about quilting and the history of some of its patterns, measuring for information, and adapting those patterns and materials to elaborate on a quilting design of their choosing. **Please bring your computer to this session.**

Unplug for a session to reconnect with your inner child. Learn the science behind what makes play so powerful in learning environments. Develop practices in mindfulness that go beyond breathing and stillness and help meet the social emotional needs of the learners in your space. Walk away with easy-to-implement, quick strategies you can try out on Monday that help learners become more connected, more productive, and more creative.

In this engaging professional learning session, participants will discover how to use Scratch for storytelling with students in grades 3-8. This session equips participants with the skills to guide students in storytelling, enhancing their narrative and computational abilities, and engage in culturally sustaining storytelling.

In this workshop, we’ll review these topics and discuss how to support making media that respects the rights of other creators. And you’ll learn how to find copyright-free media to use for your own work and your students.
